Też czasem mam taki błąd. Po chwili już apt-get update przechodzi już bez problemu.
Możliwe ze serwer ma chwilową zadyszkę. Moim zdaniem warto zmienić http://ftp.debian.org na http://ftp.[b]xy[/b].debian.org
gdzie xy to np pl,de itp
