Zastanawiam się co jest tego przyczyną, czy sterownik do karty, czy nie rozpoznany typ monitora? Ewentualnie co należałoby poprawić żeby zmienić rozdzielczość, samodzielne wpisy do /etc/X11/xorg.conf na niewiele się zdają.

Supportowane rodzielczości przez Twój monitor. W xorg.conf brak danych odnośnie domyślnych konfiguracji rodzielczości. Po najniżej linii oporu - gdzieś w x'owym konfiguratorze srodowiska jest zmieniarka niczym w Windows. Albo jesli już to [b]xrandr[/b] - chyba tak to się piszę - pomocne przy kilku monitora i nie tylko.. (patrz: laptopy i ich kilka możliwych wyjść).

Xorg.conf po zmianach nie reaguje na wpisy, zmieniarka windows pokazuje dostępne rozdzielczości zgodne z logiem xorg.log.

Przyznam się szczerze, że mam generowany automatycznie i ostatnie zabawy z xorg.conf miałem, przy starszych wersjach xorg'a, gdzie to było konieczne. I na chwilę obecną ich nie mam. A jaką na masz obecnie rozdzielczość? Rozumiem, że chcesz tę największą jaką wpisałeś do [i]SubSection[/i].
Zresztą log [i]krzyczy[/i]:

BTW, pewno, przy starym konfigu miałeś dłuższy czas startu X'ów (jak mniemam) - nie wiem jak fachowo to rzec - ale sądze, że wtedy [i]skanuje[/i] monitor, jaką rozdzielczość obsłuży..
BTW na pewno masz 1680x1050 - może i jest taka w podanym monitorze, bo pierwsze wyniki z Google wskazują na taką rozdzielczość. Sprawdź instrukcję dokładnie i model.

Na nowej konfiguracji system swoje:
(II) intel(0): Allocate new frame buffer 1360x768 stride 2048
a chciałbym uzyskać największą z SubSection.
Jeśli chodzi o rozdzielczość to jestem pewien ponieważ moniotr w momencie wyłączania X-ow od razu pokazuje ze chce optymalną jaką jest 1680x1050. Instrukcji nigdy do niego nie widziałem bo monitor dostałem i nie chciałem wnikać. Model jest napisany na przednim panelu więc ciężko się pomylić:).

Zastanawiam się jak obliczyć częstotliwość odświeżania np. dla rozdzielczości 1280x1024?

No i to sobie wklej tam gdzie trzeba w xorg.conf i wg mnie powinno zadziałać, aczkolwiek nie biorę żadnej odpowiedzialności jeżeli coś będzie nie tak.
Przed rozruchem sprawdź jeszcze raz czy zakresy odświeżania się zgadzają
