W sierpniu 2009 roku, kiedy artykuł na polskiej Wikipedii był pisany (data dostępu do źródła) artykuł z wiki Fedory miał taką samą postać jak obecnie.

[b]ArnVaker[/b]: używam Plymouth już od jakiegoś czasu i nie zauważyłem, żeby miał on wpływ na prędkość uruchamiania systemu. Być może faktycznie go wydłuża, ale wtedy mówimy o liczbach rzędu dziesiątych części sekundy, jeśli nie mniejszych. Jeżeli taki wpływ w ogóle jest, to jest on tak naprawdę pomijalny.

Aha — Plymouth siedzi sobie w initramfs (trzeba go zregenerować po zmianie motywu graficznego), więc jeżeli ktoś nie używa initramfs albo ma samodzielnie kompilowany kernel, to może mieć inne doświadczenia.

Jeśli chcę odpalić system z bootchartem to gdm nie startuje. Było tak od zawsze, czyli od wczorajszego zainteresowania się tym wątkiem ;)

O, też to mam. :) U mnie cron i gdm wywalają się po dodaniu bootcharta. Na BTS zgłoszenie bez odpowiedzi wisi już od dawna: [bug]614066[/bug]. Co do samego pakietu [deb]gdm[/deb], to nie ma go już w repozytoriach Sida i testinga, został zastąpiony przez [deb]gdm3[/deb].

Kernel (wraz z initrd jeżeli ktoś używa) się panoszy + montowanie partycji / w ro. Wywal argument „quiet” dla kernela albo przejrzyj [tt]dmesg[/tt] (od początku mniej więcej do komunikatu „Freeing unused kernel memory”), to zobaczysz dokładnie. Ach, no i 4s… Ładnie, ładnie. :)

U mnie ciągle jest problem z prędkością łączenia się z siecią (nm). Łączy się z...4s.

Widzę, że (tak mi się wydaje) nie używasz e4rat'a. Może spróbuj... "Ciekawe czy wybuchnie :D". Dodać zawsze warto ;)

Nie ma sensu. Z całego dysku SSD jest taki sam odczyt i czas dostępu. Same skrypty startowe itp. uruchamiają się w 1.5 sekundy, większość czasu zajmuje wykrywanie sprzętów itp. W sumie nie ma co przesadzać :P

Chcę przyśpieszyć nieco Debaina i powyłączać to co zbędne. Przeglądam wynik [b]Bootchart[/b] i usługi/skrypty w [b]sysv-rc-conf[/b]. Nie jestem aż tak obeznany w tej kwestii zatem proszę o jakieś sugestie czy można wyłączyć następujące rzeczy i czy nie będzie to miało negatywny wpływ na stabilność i działanie systemu:

Tak właściwie to skąd mamy wiedzieć co akurat Tobie jest potrzebne? :) Prawdopodobnie acct, atd i rpcbind możesz wywalić, ale to raczej i tak nic nie da. Zainteresuj się może odchudzeniem initrd lub jeśli nie masz nic lepszego do roboty kompilacją statycznego kernela, oraz e4rat zamiast readahead jeśli masz system na ext4.

Chodzi o to tylko by w miarę możliwości napisać które z tych programów można powyłączać mając na uwadze aby system działał (internet, dźwięk, wideo itp), jeśli to możliwe to do czego one służą tak ogółem.

W jaki sposób odchudzić initrd?
Na kompilację kernela przyjdzie czas. Kernel liquorice uruchamia się praktycznie tak samo jak standardowy. Mam właśnie ext4, zatem czemu lepiej e4rat zamiast readahead? Czy można jednocześnie użyć jedno i drugie?

Te programy to są skrypty w /etc/init.d, w każdym jest z grubsza napisane do czego służy. Poza tymi co wcześniej wymieniłem raczej nic bym nie wyłączał (no readahead gdybyś go nie używał ;)).

Odnośnie initrd: w /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf zmieniasz:

i generujesz nowe initrd:

update-initramfs -u -k `uname -r`

Powinno być kilka razy mniejsze.

Odnośnie e4rat: u mnie (i nie tylko u mnie, aczkolwiek też nie u wszystkich) po prostu działa o wiele lepiej niż readahead. Kiedyś używałem readahead, potem zmieniłem na e4rat i używam od tamtej pory. W sumie nie wiem czy można używać ich jednocześnie, nigdy nie próbowałem. A ext4, ponieważ e4rat – w przeciwieństwie do readahead – jest narzędziem tylko dla tego systemu plików.

Co jest lepsze podczas instalacji w trybie ekspert, czy zainstalować system "generic" lub "targeted"?. Jeśli dobrze rozumiem to generic instaluje pełny kernel wraz ze wszystkimi sterownikami (nawet te niepotrzebne) a targeted tylko te wymagane przez sprzęt (więc prawdopodobne że na innym sprzęcie może sie nie uduchomić)?

E4rat można zrobić wedle tego artykułu czy jakoś inaczej lepiej?:

[OT]Przyspieszenie startu systemu? Zmień dysk na SSD. Na zasilaniu bateryjnym trochę się tnie, bo procek spowalnia - na zasilaczu - łokurde, szybciej niż POST test pamięci.[/EoOT] A co dopiero na serwerze rackowym? Tam bootstrap i POST testy wszystkich rzeczy trwają kilka razy dłużej niż uruchomienie systemu.

A co do przyspieszenia - kiedyś grzebanie w kernelu dawało widoczne zmiany. Obecnie.. nie widać tego. Nie mniej jednak, jeśli chodzi o specific-target to warto pogrzebać.

To z "generic" lub "targeted" brzmi jak to co podałem wyżej z initrd, ale pewien nie jestem czy o to chodzi.

e4rat: z grubsza tak, realloc można puścić kilka razy żeby lepiej poukładał, można też dostosować sobie ustawienia w konfigu. Ktoś chce machnąć arta na portal?
