[SOLVED] Ubuntu 12.04 gnome shell gma4500hd tylko fallback mode

Witam

Brat niesteyty sobie zażyczył ubuntu z gnome shell po tym jak zobaczył je u mnie. Po instalacji i krótkiej walce z "black screen" okazało się, że środowosko graficzne uruchamia sie tylko w fallback mode i nie moge tego w żaden sposób zmienić.

Ja bym radził nowsze *buntu, ma też nowsze Gnome, i poprawione kilka błędów, które w 12.04 prawdopodobnie poprawione nie będą.

Poza tym Gnome-shell ssie dwa razy bardziej  od Compiza z Emeraldem, i na sterowniku i915 i tej lub starszej  karcie często się wykłada.
Na takim niezłym, ale niezbyt kosmicznym sprzęcie dużo łatwiej dojść do ładu z KDE-4 niż z Gnome-shell, bo KDE4 jest w tej chwili już w miarę stabilnym środowiskiem, a Gshell co chwila ma inne błędy, i co chwila sypie się na innych sterownikach.

Na jakiej karcie chodzi Gshell u Ciebie?

Względnie spróbuj na tym kompie odpalić oficjalny LiveCD z Gnome-shell (np Fedorę) - przygotowany przez deweloperów Gnome,3, będziesz wtedy widział, czy obrobi tą kartę, i przy okazji, czy sytuacja z Ubuntu jest możliwa do naprawienia przez jakieś kombinacje alpejskie czy nowszą wersję.

Hehe u mnie śmiga z na piecyku E8400 z gtx460 4gb ram :P. a u brata niestety laptop eMachines E725 T4200 z gma4500hd 4gb ram. co dziwne po odpaleniu komendy z palca gnome-shell --replace odpala sie tak jak trzeba tylko dlaczego po wybraniu w lightdm uruchamia się fallback? Co do kde to nie lubię i nie specjalnie sie na nim znam (moja kobita ma kde na laptopie i jej sie podoba a ja na niego patrzeć nie moge i jak na niego siadam to odpalam openboxa :P). Co do gnome shell na ubuntu to ja osobiscie sobie chwalę. Czysty gnome shell bez udziwnien i 1000 dodatkow chodzi stabilnie i szybko(oczywiscie nie ma polotu do openboxa + tint2 + conky ale jest bardziej przyjazny ). Wracając do brata to wcześniej próbowalem go przesadzić na xfce ale sie uparł, że chce gnome shell tak wiec jako dobry brat siedze i walczę :P...

hehe no dobra zainstalowalem i mam czarny ekran... znowu... jedyna opcja to crl+alt+f1 a następnie crl+alt+del i przy uruchomieniu wpisanie w grub "nomodeset" ale wtedy chyba wlasnie nie odpala sie na sterownikach intela?

Nie mogłeś tego od razu napisać?
xserver-xorg-video-intel rzeczywiście by się przydał, ale z drugiej strony od roku słyszę, jak się miłośnicy ziółek z teamu Gnome się  chwalą, że Shell i Mutter działają na Gallium i llvmpipe, nawet z tej okazji wywalili w ogóle tryb fallback
z nowego Gnome - podobno w przeciwieństwie do NM i PA, nie był już potrzebny ;)

Widać przy tym, że problemem nie jest Gnome-Shell, tylko Lightdm jest walnięty, - nie podnosi Gshell jak trzeba.

Jak koniecznie musi być ta wersja *buntu, to ja bym spróbował wywalić LightDM
i wsadzić w jego miejsce GDM3 - ten przynajmniej powinien obsługiwać Gnome normalnie ( w Wheezym nie było z tym problemu).

Względnie, jakby nic innego nie pomogło, zamiast managera logowania można poodnosić system automatycznie z konsoli albo przez jakiś  konsolowy manager logowania,  i niech Xorg podnosi Gshell z ~/.xinitrc..

To też jest jakieś rozwiązanie.

Albo restart i odpalenie z nomodeset jak pisałeś. Log z poprzedniego uruchomienia powinien być wtedy jako Xorg.0.log.old (jeśli się zapisał w ogóle).

Ale to chyba w nowszych GNOME. Nie wiem jaki jest w Ubuntu, a tym bardziej jak tam działa ;)

Zresztą to i tak bez sensu w tym przypadku bo na tej karcie ma działać zwykła akceleracja.

Ja natomiast wiem, jaki "udany" jest Ubuntu-12.04, co widać choćby przy zainstalowanym xorg-video-intel, i pod Gnome-3 brałbym najświeższą możliwą stabilną wersję systemu i Gnome.

Zwłaszcza, że mamy tu typowo "buntowy" folklor Xorga:

W tym jaju była zupełnie inna wersja KMSu i sterów niż w tym:

To może tłumaczyć kłopoty z KMSem i Intelem.

2.6.42 to 3.2 gdyby lecieć według starej numeracji. :) Zamiast 2.6.40 mieliśmy już 3.0.

No fakt, ciekawe dlaczego 2.6.42 a nie 3.2. :) Z drugiej strony kernel maszyny na której został zbudowany ma jakieś szczególne znaczenie? W Debianie widywałem w logach przypadki gdy Xorg z danej wersji zbudowany został na kernelu z innej.

Może zobacz jeszcze na jakimś Fluxboxie. Teoretycznie nie powinno mieć znaczenia, ale ja tam nic nie widzę w tym logu.
I spróbuj przeładować lightdm:

czy jak się to tam przełącza.

PS Mniej czasu zajmuje instalacja jakiegoś Debiana niż ciągłe naprawianie niedoróbek w Ubuntu.

Dla mnie dystrybucja, w której xserver-xorg-video-intel nie wstaje przy włączonym KMS w jaju, już byłaby uzasadnieniem, żeby sprawdzić innego.

Można oczywiście wyłączyć KMS, i ustawić ster Intela w xorg.conf, to jest jakieś wyjście i powinno działać, ale to w końcu ma być łatwy system dla początkujących
a nie jakiś LFS, żeby w nim grzebać. ;)
W dodatku karta Intel 4500HD, to nie jest jakiś niszowy produkt, który wyprodukowano w 50 egzemplarzach, i producent nie blokuje sterów na Linuxa, tylko udostępnia pełne API i stery.

2.6.42 to byłby raczej 3.0.2.

Natomiast w 3.2 ster Intela do KMS był praktycznie przepisany od zera, jak dodali obsługę zintegrowanych chipów Sandy (czy Ivy?).
Także przeważnie problemu nie ma, ale tutaj owszem, jest.
Gdyby dali w tym *buntu Xorga i ster Intela 1.11.4 budowanego na systemie z jajem 3.2, i sterem załadowanym z KMS, to raczej by działało bez problemu.
Tak samo, jak np w Debianie. ;-)
